Petr Beneš started playing guitar at the age of seven at The Music and Arts Primary School in Dobruška with M. Madza. He was admitted to the Pardubice Conservatory in 2004 and studied in Professor Petr Saidl’s class. During his studies Petr Beneš worked with several ensembles, the most significant being his three year contract with the Bohemian Guitar Orchestra, directed by Rostislav Coufal. He played in various chamber ensembles, such as a duo with a soprano, guitar or violin.
Petr Beneš started teaching acoustic guitar and electric guitar at The Music and Arts Primary School in Choceň and The Music and Arts Primary School in Nová Paka in 2010. He took up psychology at Palacký University Olomouc after having successfully completed his studies at the Conservatory.
He won many significant awards during his studies at The Music and Arts Primary School and the Conservatory, including 1st place in the National Guitar Competition (Opava, 2002); 1st place in the Ivan Ballu International Guitar Festival (Dolný Kubín, 2003); 2nd place in the Czech Conservatories Competition (České Budějovice, 2004) and 1st place in the International Competition of Young Guitar Players (Weimar, 2005).
